Optimal CIP Cleaning 5: Line cleaning

Part 5 of ingredients for an optimal CIP cleaning
Today it’s Line cleaning’s turn!
What’s important during line cleaning?
To be short: turbulent flow at all points.
Sounds simple, and so it is… if you know what to look for ๐.
Turbulent flow occurs at a Reynolds number > 4000. In practice, it amounts to approximately 1.5 m/s.
Faster is always better, but much faster only wastes unnecessary energy.

A useful tool for this is the Pipe Velocity graph shown here.
