Do you pass the integrity test?

The integrity test
Last week you saw the crack test: the plates of a plate heat exchanger are tested separately for cracks with fluorescent liquid.
Prior to the crack test, you can have the rapid ‘integrity test’ performed. This might save you the crack test!
What does the integrity test involve?
During the test, the plate heat exchanger remains assembled and inline/in its own place. The test equipment sends gas through the exchanger. Pure hydrogen gas leaves the exchanger without cracks. Is there a microcrack? Then the gas mixes and the leakage is detected by the test equipment.
The microcracks are so minimal that the gas is permeable and liquids, such as dairy or beer, are not.
So in 1 hour you will know whether the exchanger is good, needs replacement plates within six months or can run with the hairline cracks for at least another year.
The big advantage? You can schedule when to stop the exchanger.
Are you curious about how the test works? Then take a look at this video.
